As a practitioner I find that certain questions are asked of me more than others. Here are some of those which come up most often.

Will homeopathy interfere with the other medications I am taking?

crucibleNo, but the reverse can be true. If you are on medication homeopathy may be a little slower to act, but homeopaths see many people who are on medication and we can work with this. It is recommended that you maintain your relationship with your GP whilst using homeopathy.

What is the advantage of having a homeopathic travel kit?

If you are traveling abroad it is always handy to have a kit ready at hand for minor injuries and illnesses. Sometimes language can be a problem but with a travel kit you are prepared in advance.

Is homeopathy like herbalism?

No, although there are similarities. Herbalism deals with the material dose of the substance whereas homeopathy uses minute doses of the substance, so there is no danger of overdose.

I've heard that I can get worse after taking homeopathic remedies, is this true?

It is common to experience a slight worsening of symptoms after the initial dose, this is often because the remedy is the one you need. Homeopaths see this as a healing crisis and this usually only lasts a few hours before you see signs of improvement.

Is homeopathy safe for babies?

Very. Babies and children respond very well to homeopathy especially for fevers and side effects from vaccination.

How long has homeopathy been around?

For over 200 years. It was discovered by Samuel Hahnemann a German physician and chemist.

How long will a consultation take?

The first one takes approximately 1-1 ½ hours, follow ups take about 30-40mins.

Is it safe to use homeopathy during pregnancy?

Yes. Many women use homeopathy during their pregnancy e.g. anaemia, haemorrhoids, heartburn, tired legs, also to help through labour and delivery. The baby also benefits as there are no harmful side effects.

How does homeopathy work?

It works on the principle of "like cures like". For example when peeling onions many people find their eyes stream, onion in small doses is one of the major hay fever remedies.

How do I take the remedies?

The remedies are dispensed either in small pill form or in drops in a bottle. Creams and ointments are also available for first aid situations.

How long will I need treatment for?

This very much depends on how long you have had the particular problem. As a general rule the longer you have had something, the longer it takes to treat, but acute problems can clear up very quickly.
